yes, that’s meryl streep. and yes, she *is* a badass.
i saw her perform this in central park a couple years ago, and it rained that day. the play is already long at three hours (not complaining about the length) but it rained so hard that the stage manager stopped the performance many times to wipe the water off of the stage… meryl acted and sang in the pouring rain, dripping wet for FOUR HOURS. kevin kline at one point gave her his coat (i know that was unscripted) because he knew she was going to be out there longer than he would be. she had every right to cancel the performance, but didn’t because she knew that, it being shakespeare in the park, that people had literally waited all day to see her.
she is my hero.
